Here is some information that you may find interesting that Robin found from Erik McLaughlin of Seven Hills Winery, “New AVA proposed for Lewis-Clark Valley in Idaho and eastern Washington. It is not as strange of an idea as it may sound to some. Prior to prohibition, this valley was the cradle of NW winegrowing. The first wine grape vineyard in the northwest was in this proposed AVA, near Lewiston (in 1864). Idaho had a more developed wine industry than either Oregon or Washington until Prohibition shut almost everything down in 1919.” The new AVA would be called the “Lewis-Clark Valley AVA” Here is a link to the interesting article by the Treasury Department in PDF format – New AVA In Northern Idaho.
