Doing Ones “Field Work” Before The Tasting

09Feb2014_1b_AVA-Wine-Visit_Orchard-House_Koenig-VineyardsBeing on the Board of the Treasure Valley Wine Society is a tough job. But someone must do it!! On Sunday, February 9, Gail and Bob Parker and Robin and I did a little field trip to get some of the local wines for the “PS I Love You (Petite Syrah I Love You)” wine dinner on February 12th At Meadow Lake Village. The snow covered Snake River AVA roads were no problem, as shown in the photograph here. Left-Click any of these photos to see enlarged.
But before we can even think about wine, and particularly tasting wine, we must have a good breakfast. And the The Orchard House in Marsing, ID. is the perfect place. See their link in the sidebar. Always great food and always great service. Here is part of our breakfast. Cheers and Gut Essen!

He was also explaining that if the Snake River AVA was split up, that not all of the Sunny Slope wineries would be in the same AVA. Soil differences and geology dictate the AVA.

It’s going to be a great event on Wednesday, February 12th at Meadow Lake Village. Hope to see you there for some awesome wines – probably 6 or more wines – and a great dinner prepared especially for us by Chef Jake. Just a mere $30 per person for non-members and $25 per person for members. The program and dinner start at 7:00pm but there is an appetizer table and appetizer wines starting at 6:30pm. See you there!!
