Wine Tasting In Florida

2014_Florida_7g_Florida-Wines_Berns-Wine-TastingIt seems as though everywhere we go, there is wine. Our Florida trip was not different. Wine is like a magnet – It draws one closer to it. And we did find some great wines and wine cellars. In Tampa, there is always Bern’s Steakhouse. Superb steaks, although we were not as infatuated with the meal this time. Still good, don’t get me wrong, but not as good as we remembered. But they do have a wine cellar with over 1,000,000 bottles! On the other hand, San Sebastian Winery in St Augustine, FL doesn’t have 1,000,000 bottles onhand, but being the oldest winery in the USA – started by the Spanish for sacremental wines – does have a good selection of wines and ports. Enjoy these photos of our wine adventures in Florida. It was a real treat. The photo to the left is a wine tasting lead by Harry Waugh. Cheers!

They do offer a fortified wine (port) and they are pretty good. We had to drive so we could not imbibe to any extent.

Nick Karatinos, husband of Dr Jill (Rassmussen) Karathanos, brought out some of the wines that he likes. This is one of them.

Harry Waugh samples some wine. He was probably one of the first people to take California wines to England and write about them.

See any you like or would like to have? If you have to ask the price, you can not afford it. We didn't buy any.

A great wine “tasting” in Florida at three different places. All good. All exciting. Sorry you couldn’t make it. Maybe next time. Cheers!
